Sakura Gelly Roll Pens

I was gifted a blank book with black paper and I want to get some Sakura gelly roll pens to write in it with.

The problem? I don't know much about those pens. There seem to be a lot of different types. What would be the best ones for black paper?

Metallic? Moonlight? Just the regular ones?

Fellow pen folks, help me!

Metallic and pastel, probably.

Jetpens has a nice graphic of what the different types do on dark paper in one of their examples (the fifth one in): https://www.jetpens.com/Sakura-Gelly-Roll-Moonlight-Gel-Pen-1.0-mm-10-Color-Set/pd/2354 I assume that they're only showing the ones on dark paper that work halfway decently?

Agreed, I go and visit the JetPens reference image sometimes for help! Re: original q, the regular pens won't be very legible on dark paper, and even the metallic ones won't have the same "pop" in clarity that the Moonlight line does. Metallic is legible, but the colors kind of fade out, IME.

That's the one I'm staring at too. I am vindicated in my instinct that pastels seem pretty good and Stardust Clear Star should be used with a friend

I have a black notebook, and I am using the Sakura Gelly Roll Silver Shadow pens and the Pentel Hybrid Dual Metallic pens. Both show really well on the black paper, but beware that the effect of the Silver Shadow pens is a lot more subtle than I thought it would be. The writing is mostly silver with a faint hint of the color the pen is supposed to be.

If you want white, the Uni Ball Signo white pens are considered the most opaque; I find them to write more opaquely than the Sakura Gelly Roll white pens.

That sounds like a lovely gift! :)
I remember having black paper in a spiral notebook and colorful gel pens as a teenager and it was fun to write and draw in those.

Oh, something I actually know. Metallic Gelly Rolls, the white of their normal line, and most of the Moonlight pens but especially the lighter colored ones will work on black paper. The silver/gold shadow pens would also work on black paper but be warned these pens have a distinct smell that some people find offputting. The Souffle pens should also work on black paper but they are very slow to dry.

Uni-Ball Signo Broad is my favorite white ink.
