12 pen person questions!
Aug. 28th, 2025 11:56 amHere's my own response to the 12 pen person questions, below the cut because it is pretty long. i did skip a couple of questions as i simply didn't have an answer.
If you consider the different ways you can engage with pens and stationery—as a user, a collector, a hobbyist, a creator, a maker, a vendor—which roles fit best and what percentage of 100% would you assign to each? Are you happy with the balance?
I'm mostly a user of stationery. I have made some stickers and I want to get into making things like washi tape but I just haven't yet, though being a creator or even a vendor is a far off dream of mine... :)
What is something you want to understand better or develop more informed opinions about?
hmm, i'm not really sure. i mostly have a 'just don't think too much and have fun' attitude to be honest.
In the pen community, what's something someone has said or done that stuck with you?
i admittedly have been scarcely involved in the pen community and journaling/scrapbooking etc as a whole... maybe that's what i want to understand more, getting more engaged with the community!
There are now 25 hours in a day, a bonus hour is available to use however you like as long as pens or stationery are involved—how do you spend your hour?
scrapbooking for sure. i love doodling and stickers.
How do you feel about your handwriting?
i have pretty messy handwriting, partly due to my lack of fine motor control and slacking off on my handwriting exercises growing up. i don't mind it too much though.
You're going on a writing retreat anywhere in the world—where would you go, what would you write, and what would you write with?
What's a current or favorite creative outlet?
i've been getting back into making digital collages with picmix. like a crow i am endeared to shiny things and picmix is chock full of glittery, eye-wateringly bright gifs and images. it's easy and lots of fun.
What's something that causes you benign envy—the kind of admiration and desire that leads to inspiration or motivation?
people with lots of resources, especially expensive ones, like good inks and paints and fountain pens. i'm got some pretty basic materials and i know that that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad but i get a little jealous anyway.... i do strive to build up a nice collection of my own eventually.
What's a comfort item, material, or color?
i love puffy or fuzzy stickers, though i don't have many. i find having a 3d, textured scrapbook is much more interesting than a flat piece of paper, though it's made my current scrapbooking notebook incredibly strained with tons of thick pages.
What would be a dream collaboration, project, or partnership?
i've always wanted to make a book or zine, whether it be about art, writing, whatever. the idea of doing it with friends or peers would be fun.
