So, because of i found my mom's secret fanfiction stash by [youtube.com profile] ColeyDoesThings has made me wanna archive my own fandom stuff analog style (maybe even the fics & art I find beautiful). I'm currently not in a possition to do this project because of lack of cash, sadly. But I'm not sure how to go about it, so I thought of asking here if people had done similar things?

Here are some ideas of my own for now:
  • Printing my fics at my shared housing, and printing my art by my parents' house because they can print in colour.

  • Same for others' fanfics & fanart, but seperate them into a diffrent folder.

  • This might give me the excuse needed to make collages &/or mini-shires? IDK

One of the things I'm not sure how to handle is how to organize the future folders. I thought of doing it by fandom, but my fandoms can change rapitly. And I also thought of doing specific challenges like minifemslashfebs in their own categories (since I'm not doing them on time anyway). The reason I wanna do this besides "I can" is that the comments in Coley's video mention the archiving of this is basically helping archaeology &/or anthropology. Which I think is important and cool/neat, so I wanna do my part.

In 2024, I decided to start reading published books again, instead of long-form fanfic downloaded from AO3, because I needed more of a challenging read than fanfic provides. To stay motivated for 2025, I'm participating in a Book Bingo challenge. All of the above led me to decide that I want to start a journal dedicated to my reading.

And I don't want anything digital, otherwise, my Goodreads list would be adequate.

I've looked at some that people have posted here, and trying to figure out what I want to do. I think I want a bigger size that my A5 bullet journal, and I think I want to do less hand-drawn art that what I put in my bujo. Maybe more scrapbook-y and less time-consuming. I definitely want to do something like print out the book covers on sticker paper.

What type of information do you include? How do you sequence the books? Do you have a daily reading log or something similar?

Mods: could we get a style: reading journal tag?

I broke my ankle, had surgery, and am now on 13 different medications that need to be taken at different intervals and different times. I can't keep up with it.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a medication tracker?

I've looked at a few templates, but the ones I've found seem to be for normal, routine meds that a person is on long-term. Not this chaotic mass of pill bottles I have.

Hello, everyone! The TLDR before I start: I would like recommendations for an undated planner with daily pages. I'm not familiar with a lot of planner brands and types, and I'm not entirely satisifed with the CleverFox planner I'm trying at the moment.

More details about the situation along with photos of what I'm using at the moment below:

I welcome any recommendations you may have! :D

So, my partner ordered a Hemlock & Oak planner and asked me if I wanted anything while he was ordering, and I had not decided what I was going to do yet for next year and saw the "traveler's notebook"-sized journals, thought they were pretty, and decided I could use one as a planner. And then I got it in my hands and realized...

It's enormous. (Photos under cut) )

Hello! ヾ(´・ω・`)

I'm not new to journaling but I AM new to doing it for planning related purposes. I don't really know what I'm entirely doing here yet, other than wanting to try analog again after doing stuff digitally because being able to decorate the pages and cover sounds really fun (you can certainly do that digitally but having a decorated journal in physical space sounds..... Right).

I've always wondered if there's journals/planners/whatever built for people like me who are more visual and if they are set up similarly, but honestly I'd be interested in anything cuz I'm still experimenting and figuring out what works best for me.

Basically I'm asking for the other visual people here: What kind of planners or journals do you use? Did you have to modify anything to make it more enjoyable or readable for you? What's your journal set up for weekly plans and monthly plans? I'm interested in anything and everything you've done so far!

An example is the Hobonichi 5-year techo.

Have you used one? What does a random page look like? What have you found it most helpful for over a page-a-day diary or undated diary?

I am considering getting one. I'm just afraid of, you know, using it for 2 weeks and forgetting about it. I think it would be helpful for tracking long term goals and doing bite-sized journaling.

Hello, all! I'm a lurker usually, enjoying your lovely posts, but I have a birthday coming up for a friend and could use your collective wisdom. I would like to buy a fountain pen for this person's birthday, coming in around $100, and haven't the first clue where to begin to find something beautiful. It can be brand new; it can be vintage; it's for a guy who enjoys muted colors (greens, blues, black). Any pointers?

Many, many thanks!

I know many of the members of this comm are fountain pen enthusiasts!

I have a Sailor Compass 1911, which occasionally spews huge amounts of ink into its pen cap. Of course, I don't notice, so when I go to use it, I plop the pen cap on the barrel and then everything gets covered in ink. I normally store it on its side.

I've had this pen for about six months, and it just started this behavior in the last three. Before that, I was very pleased with it.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hello! So I recently discovered the concept of a commonplace book, got really excited about it because I haven't journaled by hand since high school and every previous attempt of mine at keeping a planner/bujo has failed, and have now ended up here looking for advice. I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos of people showing off their own commonplace books to get ideas on content, setup, etc. and am curious what kind of supplies you guys would recommend for somewhat casual journaling? There's a lot more to consider about notebooks/pens than I realized before looking into the subject and I have basically no knowledge of paper types and fancy pens and whatnot.

For reference I've done a little browsing and I'm eyeing things like this Hobonichi Plain Notebook or this Leuchtturm1917 Hardcover (I'd probably want something medium size, with dot or grid paper), but I'd love to see what you guys prefer, or what pens you'd recommend, that kind of thing! Any advice you'd give for someone who's only previous notebook concern was whether the cover was cute or not lol.

(Any tips on commonplace books or journaling in general is welcome too! I love seeing how people prefer to set up their journals/how they like to decorate/etc.)

I have a small collection of Gelly Rolls - some from sets, and some I've bought open stock from various craft stores and Japanese stationery places.

I would like to have a swatch page with the numbers of the colors and a spot to make a swatch. Like what Prismacolor and Faber Castel make for their colored pencils. I have tried to find a swatch page, with no luck.

I would make my own swatch page in Word if I had a list of the colors. I've hunted around for a list of all their colors and can't find any actual list. Even the Sakura website doesn't have a list.

Does anyone know where a list might be found? Or even better - anyone know where a swatch page might be?

Otherwise, I'm going to have to go on JetPens or something and just type out all the numbers for all the individual pens they sell.

Hello journaling friends! I have been bullet journaling for several years and I think I might like to take up travel journaling, but in addition to what I can find on the wide Interwebs, I thought I'd consult the community knowledge base!

Do you travel journal? During a trip or after? What do you consider essential? Other thoughts? (I barely even know what I'm asking, I just keep seeing the term and ordered a beautiful new notebook I have no plans for, so....might as well!)

Thanks in advance ♥

Since I’m at the end of the school year, it’s inevitable that I’m reflecting and thinking about next year. One idea I’m playing with is having my students keep commonplace books for their reflections on our work, historical quotes (I teach history), sketches, etc. I’ve kept commonplace books since I was in middle school so I thought it would be a different way of having them reflect and maybe a cool habit that some of the kids might pick up.

Does anyone know of any cool resources on commonplace books that would be accessible to 13-14 year old kids? Thanks!

In my early 20s, I got introduced to online journaling (aka LJ), and later on blogs. I used them extensively and nattered on about just about everything in my life. In my late 20s, I got introduced to 750Words, in which I nattered on privately and even more intimately.

Then, in my mid-30s, I went through some serious life upheavals and changes, and I found that even journaling "privately" on someone else's server felt uncomfortable and potentially invasive. I've moved through various versions of offline-but-still electronic journaling, and then moving into old fashioned pen and paper. I've even become proficient in a form of shorthand/code to further increase my privacy (but sadly means whoever inherits them will probably not be very interested in them :P)

Anyway! The thing is, when I reverted to private journaling, I left my online journals in neglect, and even now, I'm finding myself having trouble knowing what to write on them, because either I feel like I'm not being personal enough, or I'm revealing too much. Even behind locked posts.

So now that I've blabbed on about myself, I turn to ask you--what do you put on your online/public journals? How does it differ from what goes into your private journals? I find high value in journaling privately, but I miss being part of an online journaling community. Please give me advice on how to be an online journaler again!

I have just purchased a Leuchtturm1917 A5 dot grid in navy blue. *rubs hands together in glee*

I have also just purchased a pack of Papermate Inkjoy gel pens and some Pilot Precise pens in .7. I am ready to journal!!

I have to admit that I am currently using my work planner to keep me on track and get everything done; I'm thinking of approaching the Leuchtturm1917 as more of an artsy type project--more like the collections pages in a bullet journal than the actual functional part of a bujo. LOL I realize this might be Doing It Wrong, but I'm having an inordinate amount of fun being creative and drawing and stickering.

Does anybody have recs for decorative pages or pretty collections or layouts that you can link me to? Or show me a picture in your own journal I can use for inspiration?
